抄録

After the “Japan Inc.” boom years of the 1980s, the prolonged malaise of the Japanese economy has been exemplified by the plight of the major Japanese electronics manufacturers, such as Sharp and Sony. These front-runners were overtaken by Samsung and LG of South Korea, with Huawei and Haier of China not far behind. As Japan’s relative position in the world economic order has deteriorated, the fall from grace of these well-known corporate symbols of postwar strength has severely wounded Japan’s national pride.
