抄録

The advent of opto-electronic devices derived from organic and polymeric materials has resulted in a number of configurations both in constitution, ordering, and operation. The work on the modification of devices primarily using the alternate polyelectrolyte adsorption assembly technique are presented. The term multilayer assembly are used to denote different types of processing involved within the device layer configuration and the molecular ordering that is achieved. The first application involves modifying a polymer light emitting diode, and the second example involves application in `command layer' alignment and patterning using photo-induced alignment strategies with ultrathin films of azo dye/polyelectrolytes in an LC cell configuration.
