The electric power system has become larger and more complex in recent years, making transient stability a significant problem. Against this background, available transfer capability (ATC) has attracted increased attention. ATC refers to critical transmission power that can be added to the current power flow, and ATC can be used as a numeric index of stability. In this paper, tie-line transient stability is used as an index of transient stability improvement. We propose a method for using NAS battery systems to improve transient stability, where output is determined by H-infinity control theory. Transient stability of the proposed method is verified on the IEEJ EAST 10-machine 47-bus system model.
