N2 - The purpose of this paper is to present a method for analyzing the dynamic non-linear response of complicated structures. The non-linear dynamic behavior of complicated structures has been generally analyzed by direct integration of the simultaneous differential equations of motion. However, the procedure has serious problems in computation time and memory capacity as the number of freedom increases. In order to solve these problems the Incremental Transfer Matrix Method is introduced, and the Midpoint Runge-Kutta scheme is also used to improve the accuracy. The validity and effectiveness of the method are then confirmed through several numerical examples of beams, rotors, and a medium-to-large-size two-spool fan-jet engine.
