Novel technique suitable for generation of large volume plasmas

A new approach to generate plasmas based solely on inexpensive standard components readily available is presented. The 3-phase approach is based on generating plasma using 3 independent electrode systems, each of which are connected to a phase on the commercial power-grid via a system consisting essentially of a slidac transformer and a step-up transformer. To keep the system easy to service, no electronics is used to control the plasma. The system is protected from damages due to arching by light-bulbs, mounted in series with the electrodes. Experiments prove that the approach has the same advantages as a conventional DC-plasma, without the disadvantages normally associated with DC-plasma.
