抄録

Poly(xylylviologen) and poly(decaneviologen) were photochemically reduced in the presence of ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid as a reductant and trisbipyridine Ru as a sensitizer. The cation radical of the polyviologen was efficiently accumulated although the rate constant of electron transfer from the Ru complex to the polyviologen was smaller than that of methylviologen. Hydrogen was evolved from water by further addition of colloidal platinum under visible light irradiation.
