Preparation of precursors for si-b-oc-n ceramics via hydrosilylation of building blocks with cyclic structures

Precursors for Si-B-O-C-N materials were synthesized via hydrosilylation of B-triallylborazine (AB) with 1,3,5,7-tetramethylcyclotetrasiloxane (TMCyS) in toluene at room temperature (TMCyS/AB = 1, 2, 3, 4). Spectroscopic characterizations suggested that C=C bonds in the allyl group of B-triallylborazine (AB) reacted with the Si-H group of TMCyS. TG analysis up to 1000oC under Ar revealed that the ceramic yields of all the precursors were equal to or above 75%. Both silicon and boron were lost during the pyrolysis of the precursor with TMCyS/AB = 1. The losses of both silicon and boron were limited for the pyrolysis at 400 and 600oC, while larger amounts of boron were lost upon pyrolysis at 800 and 1000oC.
