The high pressure response of the second-order Raman G′ band in a high quality bundled double wall carbon nanotube (DWCNT) material has been investigated by means of Raman spectroscopy up to 10 GPa. At ambient conditions two peaks appear, assigned to the inner and outer tubes of DWCNTs. Upon pressure application, the Raman signal of the outer tubes attenuates significantly. This intensity loss is related to the pressure-induced structural modifications of the outer shells.
