The Si₈O₂₀^8- silicate anion is selectively formed in tetramethylammonium silicate methanolic solution from the SiO ₄^4- silicate anion or at the expense of Si ₆O₁₅^6- and highly cross-linked polymeric silicate anions which are once formed.
