Study on semi-actively controlled damper for improving microgravity environment

    For the purpose of reducing G-jitter in various experiments and observation missions utilizing space environment, we have been studying the capability of semi-actively controlled damper using Electro Rheological Fluid ERF Through tests with the preliminary experimental model developed, we identified the basic characteristics of ER damper and conducted analytical assessment on simulation model based on the tested data. We verified that the ER model is efficient to achieve the purpose mentioned above. This time, we incorporated compatibility and safety factors into designing, examined solutions to prevent contamination due to leak of ER fluid, and also investigated how to make lighter and low-electricity consuming device without deteriorating damping performance. With the results of those, we've developed a new model and tested its performance. It was verified to have higher quality in terms of practicality and performance than the preliminary model.
