Study on sensitized degradation and crosslinking of polymers by means of picosecond pulse radiolysis

抄録

Polystyrene and poly-α-methylstyrene can be crosslinked very effectively by introducing some functional groups to the polymer or in the presence of certain kind of solvents. In contrast, those polymers can be also degraded very effectively in the presence of oxygen in halogenated solvents. Some examples will be introduced, and the mechanism will be elucidated based upon data obtained by means of picosecond pulse radiolysis.
