抄録

A technique has been previously proposed for evaluating the ultrasonic attenuation constant of scattering media such as human liver. The technique is based on processing the data sampled from the ultrasonic B-mode images. The relation between the lateral sampling interval and the ultrasonic beamwidth in a given distance is investigated. Experiments with a tissue phantom compounded of fine glass balls and agar indicate that the appropriate sampling interval is half of the minus 3-dB beamwidth.
